Of the People and beetles: a short history of the VW Beetle and customize

The Volkswagen Beetle, or type 1 as it was officially known until 1967, is an economy class car. It was originally designed by Ferdinand Porsche for the Commission of Adolf Hitler as the latter is the "People’s Car" (Volkswagen in German). The idea was to have a car available at an affordable price for every German household. The official production began in 1938 and ended in 2003.The original design was equipped with an air-cooled 4-cylinder horizontally opposed cylinder or "flat four" located at the rear, unlike the front like most vehicles. Another trademark is the design of the body, which probably has the vehicle namesake. Over the years, a number of upgrades of the model are produced, but the architecture remains largely in line with the original type 1 signature design.Due the inherent versatility of the engine platform and customization capabilities, the Beetle is one of the longest and design under the most-produced cars. The market for classic VW Beetle parts inventory ranges back to the first model produced in the year 1960, allowing collectors to restore their vintage Beetles on the proper procedure to maintain condition.In 1998, Volkswagen released the New Beetle, a retro theme-based car company Golf platform, but borrowing the design of its big brother so to speak. Unlike the original, the New Beetle had a front-engine, unlike the Beetle back to the traditional one. It remains to be seen whether the New Beetle will have the same characteristics as the original.
